Scott joined Responsible College Advocates as a Certified Pay-for-College and Certified College Debt Specialist because he recognized that families need a holistic plan and road map to the largest expense that most families in America face today...paying for their childrens’ college experience.

He recognizes that helping families get their students into the best schools possible, at the lowest out-of-pocket cost with custom strategies, not products, requires a high degree of transparency that seems to be sorely lacking when parents face the daunting cost of college education.

The mission is personal since Scott struggled with college financing for his son. He laments that he had no idea how incorrect financial planning increased the cost of college until it was too late. With that expensive lesson, Scott wants to share with parents how to make college affordable and best plan for their and their childrens’ financial futures.

Scott’s 25-plus years of financial and corporate experience has taught him that “You must consider the big picture when helping people achieve their family education goals; funding college the smart way while still juggling daily expenses and saving for retirement simultaneously”.  Approaching such a problem with complete transparency and predictability is an essential mindset in creating a custom, pay-for-college strategy and timeline.

The guidance that the Responsible College Advocates brings to the table gives Scott’s clients a sense of peace and comfort knowing that the cost of education, and the debt associated with it, will not derail the family’s financial security in retirement and in leaving a family legacy.

Scott is proud to be a community resource and is honored to have found such an impactful calling with Responsible College Advocates. He looks forward to helping your family optimize and protect your Pay-for -College plan.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

As a financial profession who has gone through the college financing debacle myself with my own son, I know the need for, and frustrations of, making college affordable.  My background affords me the knowledge and experience to help parents with the financial preparations to make college affordable

I know first-hand the struggle parents endure seeking the information needed to put their children through college.  I am attracted to RCA because they offer free guidance to all, regardless of commission.

Missouri and Texas

The smile on kids and parents faces when they realize that I can help them achieve their college dreams.

The Affordable College Plan is a community resource that applies a holistic methodology to align academic goals and the financial strategy to achieve them.  It’s an organic solution that looks at your personal economy to ensure that you maximize gifting, or free dollars (endowment monies) from the universities, organize debt to optimally take advantage of interest and savings (if Parent/Student debt is part of your solution) and find the right fit with a university that will compete for your child…The conversations we have with families help shape their academic decision-making by adding a level of transparency and ultimately assisting students to graduate in four years, instead of six (national average).

  • Each family receives a custom year-over-year Pay-for-College timeline that utilizes individualized strategies to lower a parent’s out-of-pocket costs, minimize loans, and outline when and how to use your money most effectively.
  • We’ll also do a comparison of the impact that your Current Situation vs. an Optimized Solution – and the impact it will have on your family before, during, and after-college years.
  • The conversation introduces families to micro-scholarship programs (to earn up to 25% of the 4-years tuition at over 800 universities for doing college prep activities before the end of their Senior year of high school).
  • Solutions educate parents on how to handle the remaining balance and could also incorporate a college debt pay-off strategy. (The same strategy that is deployed for new college grads to help them pay their college debt in half the time.)
  • Lastly, the ACP helps launch students into a career with a job preparedness programs.

This unique approach to college planning solves the "Price Tag Problem" and puts resources around smarter consumption of education and better conversations.

A Certified Pay-for-College Specialist is a designation earned through a financial educator that demonstrates understanding and knowledge around college financial aid and funding solutions to solve a family’s Pay-for-College strategies.  From Federal programs to university gifting (endowments), scholarships and loans; a Pay-for-College Specialist helps build a knowledge-based solution to a family’s educational targets.

A Certified Pay-for College Specialist understands the intricacies of college funding.  This begins with the FAFSA process and a clear understanding of the information it contains, as well as the variables that will impact a family’s personal filing.  Insight into the cost and financial formulas that govern needs-based gifting from all 3,300 universities, and the associated financial services mechanisms that rule the college industrial complex (529’s, Student & Parent Loans, and the impact utilizing other assets on a families Pay-for-College Strategy).  And while college selection is a significant priority (and where traditional college planning is focused) a CPFCS seeks to align a family’s financial resources in an organic way to help achieve their academic aspirations and minimize the total cost of their goal.

The Affordable College Plan is for families interested in learning how to minimize out-of-pocket costs and maximize their children’s academic opportunities.

Whether your selecting from…Ivy or State Schools; exploring a private engineering college that seems expensive (but their internship programs would launch your son or daughter into a great career starter); maybe community college with a strategy for one, art school for the other, and the third is still a long ways away.  The ACP encompasses both late-stage and long-term college planning and can assist any family that needs transparency to paying for education and assistance with the steps along the way.

Every family can benefit from a knowledge-based solution that clearly details the different and most efficient ways to Pay-for-College.

We never charge a fee!  Certified Pay-for-College Specialists are associated with the Heartland Institute of Financial Education a Federal Not-for-Profit group that delivers education without expectation.  As a community resource the information as well as the solutions we provide are complimentary.

When continued savings tools or financial services programs are elected, a licensed professional may offer tools to complete your strategies on behalf of established A rated companies.  If you adopt a long-term strategy involving a savings vehicle, that third party Company will pay a commission for assisting with your strategy as well as the long-term monitoring of your solution.  The cost of the information is free, the solution is free, and the consultations with a Certified Pay-for-College Specialist free…And there are No Out-of-Pocket Costs to implementing and monitoring a solution.
